Everything about Japanese Language NAT tests

NAT-TESTS is the Japanese Language Tests to cater non-native students Japanese Language Proficiency. NAT is divided into 5 levels from N5 basic to N1 most advanced and the general ability is further divided into 3 categories Grammar/Vocabulary, Listening and Reading. The format of the exam and the types of questions are equivalent to those that appear on the Japanese Language Ability Test (JLPT)

Levels and Sections of NAT Tests

These are the five levels of the NAT-TEST for Japanese Language. There are five levels: level 5, level 4, level 3, level 2, and level 1, which is the hardest. Each level is as hard as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) level that goes with it, ranging from N5 to N1.

There is a Language Knowledge section in Levels 1 and 2 that covers reading, grammar, and vocabulary. There is also a Reading Comprehension part and a Listening section. There is a Language Knowledge section with kanji and words at levels 3, 4, and 5. There is also a second Language Knowledge section with grammar and reading, and then there is a Listening part. People who are taking the test will need several hours to finish it on the day of the test.

Test Format

Vocabulary and Grammar:

  • Multiple-choice questions testing knowledge of words, phrases, and grammatical structures.

Reading:

  • Multiple-choice questions based on passages of varying lengths and complexity.

Listening:

  • Multiple-choice questions based on audio recordings of conversations and monologues.

Score

One needs to score good marks in each section separately and then the sum of all the sections is calculated to check whether the person is pass or fail. Each level has different passing level. The higher the level the higher the score is required to pass. 

Preparation and Practice 

To get ready for the NAT-TEST, you need to study Japanese language tools and do reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar activities. There are a lot of things that can help people study for the test, such as guides, online classes, and practice tests.

 Registration

To register for the NAT-TEST, candidates need to:

  • Visit the official NAT-TEST website or contact a local test center.
  • Fill out the registration form and submit it along with the required fee.
  • Receive confirmation and details about the test location and schedule.
